Welcome to IDEAs for Success!
The purpose of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA 2004) is to ensure that all children with disabilities have a free appropriate public education that emphasizes special education and related services designed to meet their unique needs and prepare them for further education, employment and independent living; ensure that the rights of children with disabilities and parents of such children are protected; and, ensure that educators and parents have the necessary tools to improve educational results for children with disabilities.
IDEAs for Success was created to provide school personnel with the training and resources needed to ensure these provisions for the identification and determination of services are available for students with developmental and learning differences.
The mission of IDEAs for Success is to provide quality consultative and evaluation services to school staff; working collaboratively with all stakeholders to develop clear objectives and plan for individual student achievement.
How IDEAs for Success Started...
In 2004, I graduated with my Masters in Education and moved into the education world as an educational diagnostician. I have always had a dream of making a difference. I have always had a dream of children receiving what they need in order to become healthy contributors to their world.
At that time, I began journaling what it was like in the day-to-day routine of life as a diagnostician. As with most of my ideas, it came to me in the middle of the night. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) was born to create success and equality for all students… Do I have any ideas for my own success? Can any of my ideas lead to success? I hope so. Then, it came to me…
IDEAs for Success
There were so many things happening around me that were not taught in the university setting. I wondered how anyone coming out of college to serve as an educational diagnostician could survive! I developed IDEAs for Success to provide school districts and other stakeholders a resource for services. It has been an interesting journey to get here and will continue to be a great journey as I step out in faith!
